Viz Media has licensed the Marronnier Kingdom manga, Nao Iwamoto’s fantasy romance The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom, for English-language readers, Anime News Network reported. Viz announced the license Thursday, two days before the series’ TV anime debuted in Japan.

What the Marronnier Kingdom manga is about

The story follows seven brothers who are knights of the Marronnier Kingdom, which sits at the center of a group of eight kingdoms. Each brother is sent to a different kingdom as an ambassador, and each goes on an adventure to find a fated partner, Anime News Network reported. Viz put the first two chapters online the same day.

Iwamoto began the manga in Shogakukan’s Flowers magazine in September 2016. The 11th collected volume shipped in Japan on June 10. Anime News Network noted that the series topped the list of manga for female readers in the 2018 edition of Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook.

The anime that arrived this weekend

The television anime premiered Saturday, Oct. 3, at 6:25 p.m. JST on NHK Educational TV. J.C.Staff is animating it. Kiyoko Sayama directs, Shinzō Fujita oversees the scripts, Yuriko Maeda designs the characters and Yoshiaki Fujisawa composes the music. The cast includes Kengo Takanashi, Makoto Tanikawa and Haruki Ishiya as brothers, with Show Hayami as narrator.
