Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will kick off its Year Two content plan on Nov. 3, 2026, bringing crossovers with Final Fantasy VII, Godzilla and Evangelion alongside new modes and a price cut for the base game, according to Gematsu. The update marks the first wave of post-launch crossover content confirmed for the kart racer since its debut.
The Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Year 2 crossovers list includes three major franchises, with the Final Fantasy VII Remake series set to arrive through a Midgar Pack DLC in the third quarter of 2027, Gematsu reported. Godzilla and Evangelion were also confirmed as crossover properties coming to Year Two, though no release windows for that content have been announced.
What Launches On Day One Of Year Two
Bayonetta joins the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds roster on Nov. 3, 2026, the same day Year Two begins. Players will unlock the character through Rival Duel matches rather than a standard purchase or reward track, according to Gematsu.
That same date brings a new Duel Mode built around 1v1 racing. The mode introduces a Duel Boost mechanic and changes item visibility during head-to-head races, per the report.
Year Two also upgrades the game’s gadget system with the Grand Master Plate, which adds a seventh Super Slot for single-slot gadgets. Gematsu reported that 15 new gadgets will be available on day one of the update.
What It Means For Fans
The crossover slate signals Sega is leaning further into cross-franchise appeal beyond its own catalog, following Bayonetta’s addition from the Platinum Games series. Pairing a role-playing game icon like Final Fantasy VII Remake with tokusatsu giant Godzilla and anime mainstay Evangelion gives the racer a broader pull than its first year, which focused more narrowly on Sonic’s own universe.
Racing fans will also see a real-world tie-in later in November 2026, when a McLaren Racing Speed-type machine featuring Sonic in McLaren’s Papaya and Anthracite livery becomes available, according to Gematsu.
Pricing And How To Get The Content
Season Pass Two is priced at $29.99 and covers the Year Two content additions, Gematsu reported. Sega also cut the price of the base game lineup effective immediately:
- Standard Edition: reduced from $69.99 to $39.99
- Digital Deluxe Edition: reduced from $89.99 to $59.99
The price drops apply across both editions as of the announcement, giving new players a lower entry point just as the Year Two roadmap begins.
What’s Next
The Year Two update, including Bayonetta, Duel Mode and the Grand Master Plate gadget system, arrives Nov. 3, 2026. The McLaren-themed Speed-type machine follows later that month. The Final Fantasy VII Remake Midgar Pack is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027, while Sega has not yet detailed release timing or content specifics for the Godzilla and Evangelion crossovers.
