The Dorei kara no Kitai anime is officially happening. A television adaptation of the light novel series was announced Saturday at the “Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival Online 2026,” according to Anime News Network.
The full Japanese title is “Dorei kara no Kitai to Hyōka no Sei de Sakushu Dekinai nodaga.” No studio, director, cast or premiere window has been announced yet.
What the Dorei kara no Kitai anime is about
The story follows Allen, a reincarnated boy whom a goddess blesses with a regeneration ability, according to OtakuPT. He plans to use the power to heal enslaved people he buys at bargain prices and then live comfortably, but his healing transforms them, and unexpected prosperity follows.
As Novel Updates describes it, the slaves have their own exceptional abilities and mysterious pasts, and they begin to see their owner as a future Demon King. The humor comes from misunderstandings as he tries to convince them to let him take advantage of them.
The title is often translated in English as “I Can’t Exploit My Slaves Because of Their High Expectations and Evaluation.” The series is a comedy fantasy built on a mature premise, and Kadokawa has not said how closely the anime will follow it.
The comedy hinges on a mismatch between what Allen intends and how the people around him interpret it. Misunderstanding humor like that depends heavily on pacing, voice acting and direction, which makes the eventual staff and cast announcements for the Dorei kara no Kitai anime especially important to watch for. Readers who want to judge the tone for themselves can start with the manga while they wait.
Light novels and manga behind the Dorei kara no Kitai anime
Maware Isogawa writes the novels, and Heiro provides the illustrations. Publication began in March 2023. A manga adaptation illustrated by Sachi Nishioka, which runs in the Shonen Ace Plus magazine, is also ongoing, per Anime-Planet.
The Dorei kara no Kitai anime reveal marks the franchise’s jump from page to screen. Readers who have followed the series since its 2023 debut now have an anime to look forward to, though no broadcast network or streaming service has been named.
Other announcements from the Dengeki Bunko event
The festival also revealed other adaptations, including a TV anime from Wit Studio for part four of the Ascendance of a Bookworm novels, according to ANN. For more upcoming anime, see our fall 2026 anime streaming guide, the Seirei Gensouki season 3 confirmation and the My Happy Marriage special.
Dengeki Bunko is Kadokawa’s long-running light novel label, home to series such as Sword Art Online, and its yearly festival is a common stage for adaptation news. Those announcements gave the online event a packed lineup. Wit Studio will animate Part 4 of Ascendance of a Bookworm, titled “Founder of the Royal Academy’s So-Called Library Committee,” following its adaptation of Part 3. Kadokawa also confirmed a TV anime for Toshimichi Uzō’s “My Sweet Marriage to My Ex-Nemesis,” with Atsushi Nigorikawa directing at Ankichi Kobo.
Compared with those titles, the Dorei kara no Kitai anime is at an earlier stage. It has a confirmed adaptation and a source series that has run since 2023, but it has no staff, no cast and no date.
What’s next
No additional details about the Dorei kara no Kitai anime, including a release date, were confirmed at the festival. Fans should watch for a studio, staff and cast reveal for the Dorei kara no Kitai anime in the coming months. In the meantime, the novels and manga remain the best way to follow the story, and any studio news should arrive through Kadokawa’s official channels.
