“Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles” is coming back for Seirei Gensouki season 3, the anime’s official X account announced Sept. 30, Anime News Network reported.
Seirei Gensouki season 3 renewal
The news arrives almost two years after the second season premiered in October 2024. Crunchyroll streamed that season as it aired and also offered an English dub.
The announcement didn’t name production staff, returning cast members or a release window.
How the anime got here
The first season debuted in July 2021 on TV Tokyo, with Osamu Yamasaki directing at TMS Entertainment, and Crunchyroll simulcast it. For season 2, Hiroshi Kubo took over as director while Yamasaki stayed on as supervising director and co-writer, per ANN. Both earlier seasons are on Crunchyroll, though the streamer hasn’t announced plans for Seirei Gensouki season 3.
About the series
The story follows Rio, an orphan scraping by in the slums who realizes at age 7 that he is the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese college student. Rio discovers he has powerful magic, and after he rescues a kidnapped girl, he’s rewarded with a place at an academy for noble children.
The anime adapts the light novels written by Yuri Kitayama and illustrated by Riv. Kitayama first posted the story on the novel site “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” in 2014, and Hobby Japan started releasing it in print a year later. Futago Minaduki’s manga version followed in 2017. J-Novel Club publishes both the novels and the manga in English.
Fans of reincarnation fantasy have plenty to watch in the meantime, including “Mushoku Tensei” season 3 and “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” season 4. Find more anime news here.
