Jessica Lange will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, which runs Oct. 24-31, Variety reported. The Jessica Lange Lifetime Achievement Award honors the two-time Oscar winner’s career in film, television and theater.
Why the Jessica Lange Lifetime Achievement Award fits
Lange won the Oscar for best supporting actress for the 1982 film Tootsie and best actress for the 1994 film Blue Sky. She made her film debut in the 1976 remake of King Kong. On television, she starred in HBO’s Grey Gardens and in both Feud seasons from Ryan Murphy, Bette and Joan and Capote vs. the Swans.
The stage has been just as central. Lange made her Broadway debut in 1992 in A Streetcar Named Desire, then starred in The Glass Menagerie in 2005 and Mother Play in 2024, according to the Internet Broadway Database. Her 2016 turn as Mary Tyrone in Long Day’s Journey Into Night won both a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award.
The Jessica Lange Lifetime Achievement Award and a screening
Variety reported that Lange will accept the award in connection with a screening of the film version of Long Day’s Journey Into Night, in which she plays Mary Tyrone opposite Ed Harris. Jonathan Kent directed the adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s play, which premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival in February 2025. Quiver Distribution released it in U.S. theaters Sept. 25.
What else surrounds the Jessica Lange Lifetime Achievement Award
This is the festival’s 29th year. More than 160 films will screen, and more than 20 entertainers will be honored, WTOC reported. Keanu Reeves will receive the Legend of Cinema award and Helen Mirren the Legend of Entertainment award. Danny Boyle is also among the honorees.
The festival opens Oct. 24 with Anton Corbijn’s A Talent for Murder, starring Colin Firth. Jesse Eisenberg’s directorial debut, The Debut, is the centerpiece gala on Oct. 27. Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine closes the festival on Oct. 31.
