Singer Junko Yagami will perform the Star Blazers ending theme for the seventh and final film in the Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 series, Anime News Network reported on Friday. The song is titled “Haruka e, Eien e,” which translates to “To the Distance, To Eternity.”

A music video for the song debuted with the announcement. The film, Nijiiro no Rinne (Rainbow-Colored Reincarnation), opens in Japanese theaters Oct. 30.

How the Star Blazers ending theme revives Yagami’s Yamato ties

Yagami is no newcomer to the franchise. Anime News Network’s database lists her as the singer of “Love Supreme,” one of the ending themes for the 1983 film Final Yamato, which premiered in Japan on March 19, 1983. The new Star Blazers ending theme brings her back more than 40 years later, the Italian site Go Nagai World noted.

Where the film fits in the series

Nijiiro no Rinne closes out a project of seven theatrical films, and the Star Blazers ending theme will play as it wraps up. The first, Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion), opened in July 2024. The second, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun), followed in November 2024, and Gunjō no Asteroid (Ultramarine Asteroid) arrived in April 2025. The fourth film, Mizuiro no Sasha (The Aqua Sasha), debuted in October 2025.

The fifth film opened Feb. 20, and the sixth, Aoi Meikyū (Blue Labyrinth), premiered June 26. The series picks up from the 2022 film Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage Part II: Stasha. Outside Japan, viewers can watch it on Crunchyroll as Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199.

The film’s earlier promotion also leaned on Yamato history. A teaser in July used a closing song from the original 1980 film Be Forever Yamato, performed by Akira Fuse, Anime News Network reported. Concept artist Kia Asamiya created the teaser artwork shown when the film’s title and release date were announced in June.
