The GTA 6 PEGI rating arrived with an unusually frank description of the game’s content. PEGI listed Grand Theft Auto VI as 18+ before the entry was pulled from the ratings board’s website, Eurogamer reported, and fans saved the details before it disappeared.
GTA 6 PEGI Rating: What the Listing Said
The listing describes drug use as “frequent and prominent.” Players controlling Lucia and Jason can reportedly use drugs “directly from their inventory” and “at any time.”
It also cites “strong sexual themes,” including nudity and intercourse, along with private dances in nightclubs where players can interact with dancers.
On violence, the board said players can “harm all other characters inhabiting the environment,” with a “high degree of realism.” Some weapons, it added, “cause greater damage such as detailed decapitation and dismemberment.”
How It Compares With the ESRB Label
The U.S. rating was already known. As we reported in our GTA 6 ESRB rating story, the ESRB gave the game an M for Mature label that lists blood and gore, intense violence, mature humor, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content and use of drugs and alcohol. The GTA 6 PEGI rating text is more specific about how those elements show up in play.
Treat the details with care. They come from a listing that was removed, not from Rockstar Games, and the studio has not commented on it.
What Is Next for Rockstar
Grand Theft Auto VI launches Nov. 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Our earlier coverage of the reported the digital-only launch explains how players will buy it, and our report on Rockstar’s CYBERLEEKS tease shows how the studio has handled the hype.
