Blumhouse Productions is partnering with YouTuber YouTube star Matthew “MatPat” Patrick to adapt the indie horror game Amanda the Adventurer into a feature film, the companies confirmed at New York Comic Con 2026. The project marks the first title in a broader deal to turn indie horror games and horror YouTube channels into movies.
Patrick announced the partnership during a panel at the convention, telling the crowd, “I am proud to announce that I’m working with Blumhouse to launch some new movies. I am taking some of my all-time favorite indie games and horror channels from the interwebs and partnering with Blumhouse to bring them to the big screen.”
What Was Announced At NYCC 2026
Amanda the Adventurer is a first-person puzzle horror game in which players piece together a mystery tied to a low-budget children’s animated show. Blumhouse and Patrick are already in talks with writers and directors for the film.
Patrick told the NYCC panel the team is “actually moving fast” to get the project off the ground. He also described the tone fans should expect from the adaptation.
“It’s horror with heart. Amanda is this horrifying but tragic character,” Patrick said. “It asks the question, ‘Can you trust the media being put in front of your kids?'”
What It Means For Fans
The Amanda the Adventurer movie is the first confirmed project from the MatPat-Blumhouse partnership. Patrick said he has “a few projects in the works” with the studio, though he did not name them.
No writers or directors have been confirmed yet, and there is no release date, budget or production timeline attached to the film. It also has not been specified whether Patrick will write, direct or produce the movie, or serve in some other capacity as the project develops.
What’s Next
Blumhouse and Patrick have not announced a timeline for when writers or directors will be locked in, or a release date for the Amanda the Adventurer film.
