Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says Watch Dogs remains a key brand for the company’s future, even though no new game in the franchise is currently in development, according to Game File.

Guillemot fielded the question from an investor asking about the future of the Watch Dogs series. His response confirmed the franchise’s standing within Ubisoft while making clear fans should not expect a new entry soon.

What Ubisoft Said About Watch Dogs

Asked directly about the series, Guillemot said the company considers the IP “to be an important brand for the future,” per Game File, which reported on comments Guillemot made during an investor call. That statement affirms Watch Dogs still has a place in Ubisoft’s broader plans, even as the studio has not detailed what that future looks like.

No Watch Dogs games are currently in active development, and that no new entries are expected within the next few years. Guillemot did not offer a timeline or specifics on what form a future installment might take.

What It Means For Fans

The gap between tje long-term confidence and its short-term silence is the real story here. Calling Watch Dogs “important” signals the publisher has not shelved the franchise, but the absence of active development means fans hoping for a fourth mainline game have nothing concrete to anticipate.

For now, the closest thing to new Watch Dogs content is a film adaptation in development with no announced release date. The project wrapped production two years ago and underwent reshoots last year, but has received no meaningful promotion to date.

Background

The game built its identity around hacking-driven open-world action, and the series has given Ubisoft one of its more distinctive sandbox franchises alongside titles like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. Guillemot’s comments came during an investor discussion about the franchise’s trajectory, underscoring that Watch Dogs still factors into how Ubisoft talks about its portfolio to shareholders, even without a game in the pipeline.

What’s Next

Ubisoft has not announced a release date for the Watch Dogs movie or a timeline for a new game in the series. Until the publisher shares further details, the franchise’s next concrete update is likely to come from updates on the film rather than a new entry.
