Lori Loughlin: ‘Year of Yes’ After Divorce

Lori Loughlin is embracing a 'year of yes' as a newly single empty nester. The Full House alum told Us Weekly how her life is changing after divorce.

Lori Loughlin is stepping into a bold new phase of her life. The 62-year-old Full House alum told Us Weekly that she’s embracing a “year of yes” as a newly single empty nester, trading her signature conservative look for something more adventurous and confident.

“I would say that I’m feeling maybe even a bit more adventurous and playful in the way that I’m dressing now,” Loughlin said in an exclusive interview published Monday, Oct. 5, while promoting her new four-piece capsule collection with LOLA by Laurie Felt debuting on QVC. “I’m definitely leaning into having some more fun and feeling a little bit sexier in my independent era, but in my own way, what makes me feel confident.”

Lori Loughlin on Redefining Style and Comfort

Loughlin, who filed for divorce from Mossimo Giannulli in September after 27 years of marriage, emphasized that her fashion evolution reflects her age and personality. “I think I dress age appropriately and all of that. I’m not trying to be my daughter’s age,” she said, referring to her daughters Bella, 28, and Olivia Jade, 27, who are now living independently.

The shift has been “really exciting and fun,” according to Loughlin. “I think I’m at a place in my life where I feel comfortable enough to put something together that maybe feels a little bit edgier or a little out of my box,” she explained.

Life as an Empty Nester

Becoming an empty nester has inspired more than just a wardrobe change. Loughlin recalled a recent moment at Disney World when her Full House costar John Stamos pushed her to face a long-standing fear by encouraging her to ride a roller-coaster. After conquering that initial ride, she tried four new rides that same day, a breakthrough she credits with shifting her mindset.

“It’s the year of yes,” Loughlin said, noting that she and her longtime friend Laurie Felt are planning a girls’ trip to London and have committed to not “let the grass grow under our feet.”

Putting Herself First

Loughlin acknowledged the unique freedom that comes with this stage of life. “It’s a time of looking out for ourselves and putting yourself first, in ways. It’s a great time to do it, especially when you’re on your own or you’re an empty nester and your kids are out on their own,” she said.

She remains grounded about her role as a mother: “We will always be moms, always have to be in the mix and ready to roll up our sleeves and be there.”

New Creative Ventures

Her mindset shift directly inspired the partnership with Felt on the LOLA by Laurie Felt collection. “She convinced me that we should do this. At this point in my life, I was like, ‘You know what?

This is great. I’m up for a new adventure. I’m doing it with a friend.

What could be better?'” Loughlin said.

The four-piece collection debuts on QVC on Monday, Oct. 5, marking Loughlin’s first collaboration with the home shopping network. She emphasized that working alongside Felt made the experience meaningful: “I love to work, she loves to work, but the combination of getting to do it together was really what was most exciting to me.”
