Geely announced Friday that its Canadian operation will launch its first vehicles in 2027, marking the Chinese automaker’s entry into the country. The company said Geely Auto Canada is now working to build out a retail and service network ahead of those launches.

The announcement confirms Canada as Geely’s next step in a growing list of international markets, though the automaker has left several key details for later.

Geely: Canada Set To Get Vehicles in 2027

Geely has not said which vehicles it will bring to Canada, but the company plans to select a handful of models from its global portfolio for the launch. Pricing, specifications and the exact locations of the first dealerships have not been revealed.

Bryan Wu, managing director of Geely Auto Canada, framed the move as a long-term play rather than a quick entry. “Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth,” Wu said. “We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely.”

The Canadian operation will pair Geely Auto Group’s global engineering and manufacturing capabilities with local knowledge in electrification, vehicle safety, intelligent features and advanced manufacturing, according to the company.

What It Means For Canadian Drivers

For now, the news gives Canadian shoppers a timeline but not a shopping list. Geely says it will work with experienced retail and service partners who understand local markets, which suggests a dealership rollout similar to how other global automakers have entered new countries. But without confirmed models or pricing, drivers won’t have specifics to compare against domestic or established import brands until closer to the 2027 launch window.

The launch is specific to the Geely Auto brand, the company’s global mainstream line, rather than any of its other automotive brands.

Context: Geely’s Global Scale

Geely sold more than 3.02 million vehicles worldwide in 2025, including nearly 1.69 million electrified vehicles, according to the company. Through September 2026, group sales had already surpassed 2.23 million vehicles.

Those numbers reflect a company with an established global footprint across numerous international markets, and the Canadian expansion fits a pattern of Geely extending that reach into new regions rather than a one-off announcement.
