Crunchyroll will stream Dragon Ball Super: Beerus with subtitles starting Oct. 11, Toei Animation and Crunchyroll announced Tuesday. The series reaches Crunchyroll subscribers nearly a week before Netflix’s Oct. 17 premiere.

What Happened: Crunchyroll Lands Dragon Ball Super: Beerus

Toei Animation and Crunchyroll confirmed Crunchyroll as the series home, with subtitled episodes rolling out starting Oct. 11 in the United States, Canada, Latin America (including Brazil), Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Europe.

The announcement covers only subtitled episodes at launch, with no English dub date announced yet.

What It Means For Fans Of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus

The series features enhanced and all-new animation and visuals built on Akira Toriyama’s original story, character designs and creative vision.

Longtime fans revisiting this familiar arc get a fresh coat of paint: the series brings enhanced animation and all-new visual sequences to a story first introduced in the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Background: Retelling The Beerus Arc

The series retells the Beerus arc, which was adapted in the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga after the 2013 film, giving familiar material upgraded animation instead of an entirely new story.

What’s Next

Crunchyroll subscribers in the listed regions can begin watching Oct. 11. Netflix will premiere the series on Oct. 17. An English dub has not been announced.
