Fox released four new Baywatch reboot teasers on Oct. 2, putting Stephen Amell’s Hobie Buchannon at the center of a story about a lifeguard captain and his unexpected daughter, Deadline reported. The series premieres in January 2027 on Fox, with episodes streaming on Hulu the next day.
What the Baywatch reboot teasers show
Each of the Baywatch reboot teasers pairs two cast members. The pairings are Amell with Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison with Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell with Brooks Nader, and Livvy Dunne with Thaddeus LaGrone, according to Comic Basics.
Hobie is now a Baywatch captain, following in the footsteps of his father, Mitch. His life changes when Charlie Vale, the daughter he never knew he had, arrives and says she wants to become a lifeguard.
Baywatch reboot cast and roles
Amell leads as Hobie. Belkin plays Charlie, Mitchell plays Trina, Harrison plays Nat, LaGrone plays Brad, Nader plays Selene, a rival beach captain, and Beck plays Luke. Dunne makes her professional acting debut as junior lifeguard Grace.
Mary McDonnell plays Gayle, the grandmother of Hobie and Charlie, in a recurring role, and John Beckwith plays Julian, a doctoral student on an oceanographic research team, according to casting reports. Beckwith’s character develops chemistry with Charlie.
Original Baywatch stars return
Several faces from the original series are back. David Chokachi returns in a recurring role as Cody Madison, while Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin and Kelly Packard make guest appearances. Eleniak reprises Shauni McClain, Bergin plays Jack “J.D.” Darius and Packard plays April Giminski, TheWrap reported.
Who is behind the Baywatch reboot
Matt Nix is the showrunner and an executive producer. McG directed the premiere. Original series creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz are executive producers along with Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz. Fox Entertainment and Fremantle produce the show, which received a 12-episode first-season order.
The show is a sequel to the original series, which premiered on NBC in 1989 and ended in 2001 after 11 seasons. Filming began in March at Venice Beach and on the Fox studio lot in Century City, TheWrap reported.
The Baywatch reboot teasers lean on the franchise’s trademark slow-motion running, TVLine noted, and each one centers on a pair of the show’s new lifeguards.
