Rumor: New PS5 Jailbreak Reportedly Hits Base and Pro Models

A leaker claims a new jailbreak works on nearly all PS5 consoles up to firmware 13.60. Here's what's confirmed and what isn't.

If you thought Sony had finally locked down the PS5 for good, think again. A new jailbreak is reportedly making the rounds that works on both the base PS5 and the PS5 Pro, and according to the person who broke the news, it is a big deal.

The claim comes from gaming leaker @manfightdragon, who posted about the exploit on X. Insider Gaming was first to report on the development. Sony has not commented, and this should be treated as unconfirmed until more details surface or the company weighs in.

What the Leaker Is Saying

According to @manfightdragon, the jailbreak covers essentially every PS5 out there with one exception. The leaker wrote: “New PlayStation 5 jailbreak just dropped. Every PS5 console can now be jailbroken except ones updated in the past week or so. Huge.”

That timing detail matters. It suggests the exploit targets firmware that has been out in the wild for a while, rather than the very latest update Sony pushed out. Consoles that grabbed that most recent patch appear to be safe from this particular method, at least for now.

The 13.60 Relapse Jailbreak

Per a video from the MODDED WARFARE YouTube channel, this tool is being called the 13.60 Relapse Jailbreak. The name points to its range: it reportedly works across firmware versions 7.00 all the way up to 13.60.

That is a wide window. For context, jailbreaking a game console means bypassing the built-in software restrictions that keep users locked into the manufacturer’s approved ecosystem. Once bypassed, a console can run unauthorized apps, homebrew software, and modified games it was never designed to support.

The discovery behind this jailbreak reportedly happened weeks before this public release, meaning it was likely tested and refined quietly before circulating more broadly.

Why This Keeps Happening

Console jailbreaking is not new. Modders and independent engineers have been poking holes in gaming hardware security since the earliest days of the industry, and the PS5 was long seen as one of the tougher nuts to crack. That reputation has taken hits recently as more jailbreak methods have emerged.

It is worth being blunt about the risks here. Jailbreaking a PS5 is illegal, and Sony actively works to shut down console hacking wherever it finds it. Anyone tempted to try this route faces real consequences: potential damage to the console itself, a permanent ban from PlayStation Network, and possible legal trouble depending on how the exploit is used.

What Happens Next

Several questions remain open. It is not yet clear exactly which restrictions this version bypasses compared to earlier jailbreak attempts, or how many consoles are currently exposed to it.

Sony’s next move is the one to watch. History suggests the company will push a firmware update aimed at closing this hole, and history also suggests the jailbreak community will eventually find another way back in. That cycle has defined console security for years, and nothing about this latest round suggests it is slowing down.
