The community manager of Void Interactive, the studio behind the tactical FPS, Ready or Not, have ended their relationship because of a controversial exchange in the game’s official Discord server by the community manager. These comments referenced the recent assassination of commentator Charlie Kirk, which drew quick criticism and prompted the studio to take immediate action.

How It Started

The situation unfolded when the community manager for Ready or Not, known as “Kaminsky,” was asked by a Discord user to add variations of “Charlie Kirk” to the server’s filtered words list. Kaminsky responded, “I just did Charlie. Funny you mention that because me and my roommate are literally just talking about him getting shot. All I have to say is: Nothing of value was lost.” A server moderator stepped in shortly after, clarifying, “Yeah, but that’s not our official position.”

The screenshots of the Discord exchange were shared on X (formerly Twitter). This is where users expressed concern over the remarks and called for Void Interactive to address the issue. The comments received criticism for being insensitive and unprofessional.

Void Interactive Says Goodbye

On September 19, 2025, Void Interactive released a statement on its X account and Steam page, announcing that it had “ended” its “relationship” with the Ready or Not community manager, Kaminsky. Void Interactive did not provide details about Kaminsky’s role with the studio or Ready or Not; so, it is not known if they were a full-time employee or a volunteer, instead referring back to their public statement.

The Controversy

The incident at the Utah Valley University where Charlie Kirk was having speaking event happned on September 10, 2025. And the Kaminsky Ready or Not Discord incident comes as tensions are on the rise after the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, a prominent figure in the political community, had been the subject of significant public debate both before and after his passing. Reactions to his death have had a wide span of opinions.

Final Thoughts

Void Interactive’s decision to part ways with Kaminsky highlights challenges faced and challenges to come by gaming companies when they are having to navigate public discussions. It also shows the importance of professionalism when a person is representing a brand online. Incidents like this are going to arise when a public platform is in play, and as the gaming industry continues to evolve, incidents like this serve as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with engaging in public platforms.
