Destiny 2 has been in a lull for the past few months. Many players have taken a break from the game. Some excitement is returning with Renegades. Part of the community has called for Destiny 3 to revive the game. Those members will be excited to hear that Destiny 3 is in early development, according to a leak. Is a new game what the community needs?

Destiny 3 Leaked to Be in Development

X user, Colony Deaks, has leaked plenty of information about Destiny 2 and Marathon. They have often been correct in the information they provided. They confirmed that Destiny 3 is in early development. Their tweet is as follows:

Yes, Destiny 3 is in extremely early development. Some of you may have seen a tweet early this afternoon that mentioned that.

We have been sitting on the info for a few weeks now and wanted to wait to talk about this seeing as it is in such an early state, and it just sucks to see others post about it carelessly for free internet points.

We plan to share more info in the coming months as we wait on the larger scale things to develop and take shape. Sit tight.

Bungie has yet to make a statement regarding Destiny 3. Even if Colony Deaks has been accurate in the past, we can not get ahead of ourselves until Bungie provides information.

Is Destiny 3 What the Community Needs?

Destiny 2 has been struggling in the past months. Edge of Fate did not land in the way that Bungie hoped. The Portal has yet to captivate players. Recent changes and Renegades have brought back some excitement to the community. But the question remains, what will it give that new expansions will not?

A new engine will certainly make a difference and create a clean slate. Destiny 3 will likely return the majority of the player base for the opening weeks. Whether that last can only be answered by the execution. The significant concern is the development time. Will the current game move to a lull state where the player base drops further to the point that Destiny 3 can not save it?
