Insomniac Games is quietly crafting a Marvel gaming universe that’s beginning to rival its cinematic counterpart. After the success of Spider-Man 2, the studio is doubling down with a slate of ambitious new titles that promise to push boundaries and deepen the lore.

First up: Wolverine. Despite a 2023 ransomware leak that exposed early development footage, the game is still on track for a 2026 release. Insiders suggest we may get our first official look at Logan’s solo adventure during PlayStation’s next State of Play event. If true, fans could soon witness a darker, more visceral side of Marvel storytelling.

Meanwhile, Venom is reportedly in active development. Far from a simple spin-off, this game will center on Eddie Brock and introduce a terrifying new version of Anti-Venom. Unlike the Anti-Venom seen in Spider-Man 2, this iteration allows Eddie to retain his identity while wielding its powers, hinting at a more psychological and character-driven narrative. Although unconfirmed, these details have already sparked speculation among fan communities.

And then there’s Spider-Man 2099. Insomniac is said to be working on Miguel O’Hara, the futuristic web-slinger known for his tech-heavy combat and dystopian setting. It’s unclear whether he’ll appear in Venom or a potential Spider-Man 3, but his inclusion signals a bold expansion of the universe.

Resistance 4 Rejected, Marvel Takes Priority

Not every idea makes it past the pitch stage. Insomniac reportedly proposed a revival of its beloved sci-fi shooter series with Resistance 4, but PlayStation’s decline underscores Sony’s commitment to Insomniac’s gaming roadmap-and given the studio’s track record, it’s hard to argue with the strategy.

With Wolverine, Venom, and possibly Spider-Man 2099 on the horizon, Insomniac is weaving a web of interconnected stories that could redefine superhero gaming. Stay tuned- because if these rumors hold, the next few years are going to be a wild ride.
