Witcher 3 Remastered patch: Major DLSS fix, better lighting

A new Witcher 3 Remastered patch restores DLSS for Nvidia users on the Xbox Play Anywhere PC version and fixes too-dark interiors on PS5, Xbox and PC.

CD Projekt Red has released a Witcher 3 Remastered patch that restores DLSS for Nvidia users on one PC version and adjusts lighting across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. VGC reported the update Oct. 1, two days after the remaster launched Sept. 29 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Witcher 3 Remastered patch fixes DLSS and lighting

The Witcher 3 Remastered patch’s headline fix targets the Xbox Play Anywhere version of the game on PC. CD Projekt Red said it “fixed an issue where DLSS was unavailable” in that version, so players with Nvidia graphics cards can now turn on the upscaler.

The patch also makes “various lighting adjustments, including fixing some interiors that appeared too dark,” per the developer. Console versions received “various other adjustments to ensure parity with the PC version,” though CD Projekt Red did not detail those changes.

Separately from the Witcher 3 Remastered patch, the studio said it is preparing a hotfix for save-game problems some PC players have reported, according to VGC, and it is collecting other technical reports through its support portal.

Affected platforms and installation

The Witcher 3 Remastered patch is live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and the Xbox Play Anywhere PC version, and it downloads automatically the next time the game is launched. The Nintendo Switch 2 version and the Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store and Battle.net releases were not listed as receiving this particular update.

What the remaster adds

Beyond the latest Witcher 3 Remastered patch, the overhaul moves the game to native DirectX 12 with multithreaded rendering and swaps in upgraded textures and models built from The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, according to the launch patch notes. On PC, it supports Nvidia DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, AMD FSR 4 with Frame Generation and Anti-Lag 2, and Intel XeSS 2.0 with Frame Generation.

FSR 4 requires a Radeon RX 7000 Series card or newer. PC players can also switch on a path-traced “full ray tracing” mode, and the remaster overhauls global illumination and thickens foliage, TweakTown reported.

Quality-of-life additions include an in-game mod browser powered by mod.io that works across platforms, the option to toggle Witcher Sense instead of holding a button and an adjustable threshold for the Vitality Regeneration boost. Gameplay and system changes

Skills now sit in a tree, with three ranks for each skill. Geralt also has new finisher animations, a new dynamic combat camera aims to keep enemies in view, a new exploration camera widens the field of view, and meditation now plays out as a time-lapse rather than a menu screen.

On Nintendo Switch 2, the game offers four ways to play: handheld, Pro Controller, Dual Grip with motion controls and Mouse Sensor, plus HD Rumble on Joy-Con 2. The remaster is also enhanced for PS5 Pro, with support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, and CD Projekt Red added multithreaded rendering on PS5.

What’s next

Anyone who bought The Witcher 3 in the past, physical or digital, can upgrade to the remaster for free, and the remaster includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. CD Projekt Red has also announced a new expansion, Songs of the Past, for 2027.

The remaster holds a Metacritic score of 94, which VGC noted makes it the highest-rated game of 2026. Further out, co-CEO Michał Nowakowski has called 2028 a target rather than a firm launch date for The Witcher 4, TechSpot reported.
