Who is Joseph Quinn? This talented English actor is dominating screens as Johnny Storm / the Human Torch in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. He’s been around for a while – with over 20 credits to his name, and several upcoming projects, he’s one of Great Britain’s rising stars. Curious about what he’s been in? Let’s take a look at some of his previous work!

Five Joseph Quinn Roles Which Showcase His Talent

Stranger Things

This supernatural sci-fi thriller is one everyone is familiar with. It has twists, far-out sequences, and characters that are engaging and quirky at every level. Quinn played Eddie Munson, a guitarist, cool kid, and somebody who was good to know… in case, ya know, anyone got in a pinch. Unfortunately his character was killed off, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying his rockin’ performance.

Hoard

Not a feel-good movie, except in a few parts, this selection shows Joseph Quinn’s knack for playing deep characters. The story follows Maria, whose mother used to be a hoarder. As Maria enters into the foster care system, she encounters Michael (played by Quinn) who changes her outlook. Joseph Quinn was nominated for the British Independent Film Award for this project.

Gladiator II

Although his part wasn’t as big as past and current costar Pedro Pascal in this, Joseph played Emperor Geta. Paired up with Fred Hechinger as brother Emperor Caracalla, the two kept a tight rule over Rome. Fun fact: director Ridley Scott had these two actors paired together and used the Sex Pistols’ Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious to inspire their look and mannerisms for the characters.

Warfare

Warfare examines the 2006 Battle of Ramadi when Navy SEALs embarked on a dangerous mission in Iraq. It follows team Alpha One as they secure a residential structure in support of a Marine operation. A tense storyline, lots of violence, and graphic injuries make this film hit hard. Brilliantly played by Joseph Quinn, his character Sam must face insurmountable odds to survive.

Les Misérables

Although this is mostly known for its Broadway production, Les Mis has been interpreted through many different mediums. Here it’s a miniseries, and filmed on location in France and Belgium. Joseph portrays French revolutionary Enjolras. Though not a starring role, he knocked it out of the park – giving Enjolras the depth and gravitas to move the story forward. This Les Mis iteration is worth the watch.

A Few Last Words

Joseph Quinn’s acting prowess and ability to morph himself into each role as well as he does makes him a hot commodity for casting directors. There’s no doubt he is a star on the rise.
