Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe and actress Kim Painter, has died, her family confirmed Tuesday, Sept. 29, in a statement to People, Variety reported.
The family did not disclose a cause of death, E! News reported.
Family’s statement on Fiona Lowe
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said. They described her as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”
“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents,” the statement continued. “In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
The family called Fiona Lowe’s death “devastating for our entire family” and asked for “prayers and privacy at this time.” The statement ended with a message about mental health: “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”
About Fiona
Fiona Hepler Lowe was born Nov. 16, 2012, the second of Chad Lowe and Painter’s three daughters. Her sisters are Mabel Painter, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10. Her middle name, Hepler, was the maiden name of Chad Lowe’s late mother and is also the middle name of his brother, actor Rob Lowe, according to Variety. Chad Lowe and Painter married in 2010.
Last November, Chad Lowe, 58, marked Fiona Lowe’s 13th birthday on Instagram. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he wrote. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”
In February 2025, after the family lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire, he praised his daughters’ strength. “The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” he wrote, adding that being their dad “is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
