Every year, fans wonder if Faker will retire from professional League of Legends. His recent wrist injuries have raised more concerns that he will retire soon. All those worries got put to bed today at the T1 home stand. Before the event closed, a video played on the big screen that showed he had signed for a new contract with the Fabled Korean Roster.
Faker Signs For Four Additional Years
Fans speculated that Faker would retire in the next year or two. He has won everything there is to win in League of Legends. 10 LCK titles, 2 MSIs, 5 World Champions, and an EWC title would more than satisfy any player. Faker loves competing, and it seems like he will not want to stop, regardless of what he wins. Faker signing for four years shocked everyone. Faker believes he has plenty more years left in him, despite the increased concern on his wrist and his growing older.
3,500 Kills Achieved
During T1’s 2-0 series victory over Nongshim Redforce, Faker became the first player to reach 3,500 kills in the LCK. Every year, he continues to break records. He has set impossible tasks for other players to get to in future years. Fans thought the victory and this record would be their only celebration of the day. The surprise of his signing for four more years gave them even more reason to celebrate a momentous player.
Will Faker Play For Four Years?
While he has signed the contract, a lot can change even in a year. The wrist issues, especially, could cause him to end his time in the professional League of Legends earlier than initially expected. If he can keep those under control, those four years might turn into more. Riot Games can breathe a sigh of relief, having him sign for longer, as they do have more time for someone to take the mantle from him when the time comes.
