Earth Star Entertainment announced Thursday, Oct. 1, that Yasuaki Mikami’s light novel series “Looks like a Job for a Maid! The Tales of a Dismissed Supermaid” is getting a television anime, Anime News Network reported. The publisher shared the Dismissed Supermaid anime news on its Earth Star Novel website with an announcement promo, but it has not named a studio, staff, cast or premiere date.

In Japan, the series is titled “Maid Nara Tōzen Desu. Nureginu o Kiserareta Bannō Maid-san wa Tabi ni Deru Koto ni Shimashita.”

What the Dismissed Supermaid anime is about

The story centers on Nina, a plain young maid whose whole life revolves around her job in Count Mirkwood’s household. After a false accusation gets her thrown out, she sets off on her first trip alone.

Along the way, Nina’s housekeeping skills turn out to be exactly what the people she meets need. They include Emily, a mage who can’t cast magic; Astrid, an inventor whose experiments keep failing; and Tien, an orphan who has trouble keeping food down. Meanwhile, the Mirkwood household starts to fall apart without her, according to the English publisher’s description.

From web novel to light novel

Mikami first posted the story on the user-submitted fiction site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2021. Earth Star Entertainment began printing it as light novels, with illustrations by Kinta, in July 2022. The ninth volume is scheduled for Oct. 15, per ANN.

Manga and English editions

Long before the Dismissed Supermaid anime, the story became a comic. Ayahito Kumagai launched a manga adaptation on Earth Star’s Comic Earth Star website in October 2022. The first collected volume came out in April 2023, and the seventh followed May 13.

J-Novel Club publishes both the manga and the light novels in English. It licensed the manga in July 2025 and the novels in August 2025, according to MyAnimeList.

What’s next

Earth Star has not said when the Dismissed Supermaid anime will premiere or which studio will produce it. For more upcoming series, see our coverage of the “Everyone’s Darling Has a Secret” anime, which debuts in April 2027, and the latest news from Total Apex’s Anime & Manga section.
