Captain Picard’s fate has been addressed in a new IDW Publishing comic, about three years after the final season of Star Trek: Picard, according to reports from CBR and Screen Rant.

Where Captain Picard’s fate appears

The story is “Manifest Destiny” in IDW’s Star Trek: 60th Anniversary Special, which came out in September. Christopher Cantwell wrote it, with art by Isaac Sanchez Gonzalez. One reviewer described it as a prelude to the publisher’s new ongoing Star Trek series.

The story follows a young Betazoid Starfleet officer who gets a telepathic glimpse of the future, according to a review at AIPT. The same review said one panel recounts Picard’s whole history. The full details of how the comic resolves his story were not independently confirmed for this report.

The new Star Trek series

Star Trek #1 came out Sept. 23, also from Cantwell, with art by Dennis Menheere. The series follows Captain Seven of Nine and the crew of the Enterprise-G, including Jack and Crash La Forge, into the Epsilon Corridor, a region of space beyond the known galaxy.

The crew explores the Trinity, three Class-M worlds where they find vanished structures, unexplained artifacts and time skips, according to a review at Gate Crashers. The series picks up events after Picard’s third season.
