The Big Brother 28 winner is Rick Devens, who also took home America’s Favorite Houseguest on the Thursday, Oct. 1 finale, according to TVLine.
Big Brother 28 winner takes $810,000
The jury voted 6-1 for Devens over runner-up Taylor Brown. Brown received only one vote, from LaTrice “Lala” Verrett, TVLine reported.
Devens won the $750,000 grand prize and $50,000 as America’s Favorite Houseguest. TVLine put his total at $810,000, which includes $10,000 from the Pharaoh’s Curse twist. Brown received $75,000 as runner-up, according to TheWrap.
How the final three played out
Drew Campbell finished third after Devens evicted him from the final three, TheWrap reported. Devens had to decide whether to cut a close ally. Brown warned him that she and Lala would not support him if Campbell stayed, according to The Tab.
Devens later said he would spend the rest of his life trying to make it up to Campbell, The Tab reported.
A first for Survivor players
Devens, a Survivor alumnus, entered the house as one of three “icons” alongside Big Brother veteran Angela Murray and Survivor winner Dee Valladares, according to The TV Cave. The Tab reported he is the first former Survivor contestant to win Big Brother. “I always want to represent Survivor Nation,” he said.
The Big Brother 28 winner joins a franchise CBS has renewed for seasons 29 and 30, TheWrap reported. For more reality TV, see our Big Brother 27 recap, the Undercover Boss reboot story and Dancing With the Stars ratings.
